We are in a fantastic location for visiting Yorkshires attractions and best kept secrets. From its lively cities, to pretty villages and rolling countryside. Yorkshire has so much to offer.

 

Beverley

Beverley is a historic market town, with boutique shops and local produce. The town is full of history with an old local church carving of the Pilgrim Rabbit in Beverley, said to have inspired Lewis Carroll’s ‘White Rabbit’ in ‘Alice in Wonderland’. The town is beautiful, with the Beverley Minster dominating the skyline, an awesome building. The town has two markets which have been tradition since the 12th Century and born form Beverley being a hive of trade. The markets are two days a week, Saturday and Wednesday.

York

A beautiful city full of boutique shops and bursting full of history. The city is surrounded by an original Roman wall, and you can visit ‘The Shambles’, the oldest part of the city, with shops and homes within original tudor buildings.  York is full of charm and beauty, without the fast working pace of most cities.

Leeds

A fast paced city offering a cosmopolitan shopping experience with shops such as Harvey Nichols, Louis Vuitton and all the high street names. The city has a fantastic energy, first class restaurants, art galleries and much more!

Harrogate

A beautiful spa town, with acres of unspoilt greenery. Harrogate is full of boutique shops and beautiful buildings. The town is home to The Great Yorkshire Show each year. The show pays tribute to the farming structure of the community and attracts HRH The Prince of Wales. The town is famous for being the home of the famous Betty’s Tearooms a beautiful vintage tea shop, not to be missed.

Yorkshire

If city life is not to your taste, Yorkshire is a prime location for long walks in the dales and beautiful villages, such as Hutton-le-Hole a beautiful sleepy village where the sheep rome openly. The North York Moors and further south the lovely Yorkshire Wolds are the scenic background to the coastline with heather moors, rolling hills, picturesque country towns and historic houses. The North Yorkshire Moors National Park offers great scenic variety – open moorland and secluded dales extending to the rugged coast. The Yorkshire coastline ranges from the golden splendour of some of Britain’s finest beaches to the wave pounded rocks of the East Coast’s highest cliffs.

Beaches

East Yorkshire has an endless coastline of beautiful, award winning beaches. From; * Hornsea  *Fraisthorpe * Bridlington * Filey and *Scarborough.

 

Bridlington

Bridlington has beautiful award winning beaches that stretch the length of the town. When visiting Bridlington be sure to visit the new refurbished Bridlington Spa. A breathtaking Victorian building, attracting a whole host of celebrity acts and bands. Bridlington is set next to Sewerby Hall, a grand stately home, zoo and museum overlooking the cliffs. Just a few miles further a you land at Danes Dyke, a wonderful woodland by the beach that dates back to a Viking settlement, a short walk further and you will arrive on the famous Flamborough Head, which boasts an intimate beach surrounded by cliffs and caves to be explored. Flamborough is traditionally a fishing village steeped in history.

Scarborough

Scarborough is a famous holiday destination for families in England. Boasting the famous Scarborough Castle. This natural fortress was favoured by prehistoric settlers, and later housed a defended Roman signal station. Later part of the Roman building was adapted as a Saxon chapel. The town is also where the film ‘Little Voice’ was filmed, the most financially successful film in British history. Scarborough was also home to the T.V series ‘The Royal’. You can walk the whole length of Scarborough seafront – it makes a very nice promenade, with the beach right next to the seafront path.

Whitby

A town a little further up the coast from Scarborough. Whitby is the home of the legend of Dracula and the tales of Captain James Cook and you can still visit his home. The town has historical connections with fishing and you can visit the Whale bone arch. The Town is famous for being the filming location of the loved T.V soap ‘Heart Beat’. Whitby is nationally known for Robin Hood’s Bay not only for the broad spectrum of musical and artistic talent residing locally but also by the huge variety of species inhabiting the rock pools, cliff ledges, sea beds, moor land, woodland, hedgerows and local pubs!

York Racecourse

York is one of the Premier tracks in Europe having recently won the Flat Racecourse of the Year Award and also came out top in The Times newspaper survey of all Britain’s racecourses. Horses raced at York during the days of the Emperor Severus in Roman times. However, many of the 350,000 racegoers who will visit the reigning “Northern Racecourse of the Year” this season are unlikely to realise they are taking part in a spectacle that first took place over 2,000 years ago. Beverley Racecourse

Beverley Racecourse is a popular day out ! From sipping champagne in the premier enclosure to enjoying a picnic right at the heart of the action in the centre of the enclosure, there really is something for everyone at Beverley races! (Approximately a 5 minute drive from Tickton Hall)

 

Dalby Forest

Dalby Forest is situated on the North York Moors National Park. The forest is a home for birds such as the crossbill and that elusive summer visitor the nightjar. Roe deer abound and badgers, are a very common but nocturnal resident. The signs of past settlers are all around. Burial mounds, linear earthworks and the remains of a flourishing rabbit warrening industry can be found throughout the wood. A network of forest roads provide access to this outstanding landscape. Formed in the Ice Age and shaped by the people from the Bronze Age to the present day, Dalby is very much a forest worth visiting.(Approximately a 1 hour drive from Tickton Hall)

 

Castle Howard

One of Yorkshire’s finest historic houses and estates, Castle Howard has been home to the Howard family for over 300 years. Castle Howard is a magnificent 18th century residence set within 1,000 acres of breathtaking landscape in the Howardian Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the heart of North Yorkshire. Mr Moo’s

Mr Moo’s use the milk from a herd of local Yorkshire cows. They use the day’s fresh milk and cream to produce over 30 flavours of delicious dairy ice cream. Visit the ice cream parlour for a light snack or indulge in the luxury ice cream flavours. Mr Moo’s Real dairy Ice Cream has been tasted and written about by some of our top celebrity chefs,  with Brian Turner recommending Mr Moo’s Ice Cream Parlour as serving ‘beautiful old-fashioned ice cream’ in an article in The Observer. Burton Agnes Hall

Burton Agnes Hall is a house of immense charm and character. It has many unusual features and is fortunate in suffering so little from alterations or additions in its history. The Deep

The Deep, one of the most spectacular aquariums in the world is located in Hull, East Yorkshire. This award-winning visitor attraction is home to over 3,500 fish including spectacular sharks and rays – making it the perfect family day out. (Approximately a 30 minute drive from Tickton Hall)

Harewood House

There are over 100 acres of Gardens at Harewood. They are full of variety, with plants from all over the world. You can also enjoy Harewood’s famous Bird Garden, home to more than 90 species, including penguins, owls, flamingos and parrots. Harewood house has a lovely coffee shop and gift shopping.
